Thereís a link in the article to another from May 2017 reporting 200K pounds of Nathanís (and Curtisí) Hot Dogs being recalled due to metal fragments being found. Feltmanís dogs have not yet been recalled have they?

Oh come on, Iím only kidding.

So how do you re-call a hot dog?

With a hot dog whistle!

WTF?!? Rutts Hut was just named Best Hot Dog in America today, National Hot Dog Day. Rutts Hut is located in Clifton, New Jersey and fries their dogs in oil!

My ex had friends in Clifton. I vaguely remember going to Rutts years ago but I did not have the dogs.

Was this ever covered on the CIBB? One of the Handwerkerís left Nathanís  to establish a restaurant called Snacktime on 34th Street in Manhattan . According to the New York Times they gave out free hot dogs on opening day in 1963.

Snacktime was Sol Handwerker, Lloyd's dad.   I met him at the Tribeca Film Festival screening of "Famous Nathan".

You should see this film, it's real time machine

I was by Fulton Mall in Downtown Brooklyn yesterday.  Noticed a Nathans meal cart (or whatever they are called)  Noticed they sell hot dogs cheaper here then in Coney on Surf.

...

A Hotdog on Surf Nathans cost $4.35.  Downtown Brooklyn $3.  With subway fare being $2.75 per person.  How many Hot Dogs do you need to buy to save money traveling to Downtown Brooklyn for a Hot Dog ?  Smiley  Guestimate, it takes about 40 minutes to take the F train from Stillwell to Jay Street.  Is it worth the trip? Just having some fun Smiley

I forgot to post this.  A friend sent me this photo of the Nathans stand at the Orlando Convention Center

...

And we complain about a hot dog over $4 Smiley

OK, I'm going to weigh in, and for those who know me personally, you know that my words should carry some weight. I have tried both Nathan's and the new Feltman's unadorned and with sauerkraut and mustard. I will only speak to the unadorned version. I've been eating Nathan's since I had teeth, and even Nathan's aren't the Nathan's I had when I grew up. Back then, they definitely had more girth. The neo-Feltman's are the same size as the old Nathan's. Both dogs have that "snap" that is the mark of a great hot dog and that can only come from a natural casing. Feltman's, though takes a bit more bite to get through that casing. Whether that is a good thing or not is a matter of taste. When you get right down to it, taste is what matters in a great hot dog. Nathan's is smokier and has a more pronounced garlic taste. The flavoring in Feltman's is more subtle and the dog has a more pronounced beef taste. I actually like both. As for what White Sands Kid has been saying, if neo-Feltman's has the blessing of the Feltman family, that, in my mind makes it authentic Coney Island and says it deserves a place in the Coney food scene.

Narthans raised their prices for a plain hot dog to $4.50.

...

If you go to the Nathans food truck in Deno's Wonder Wheel park, its still $4.39

Did you ask why the price difference? Or is it a different franchise?
